Eastern Max Buffet
One of the guys on my team at work is being forcefully happily transitioned to another team. As a small send off, we went to a team lunch at the place of his choosing. He chose a place I had never eaten before, called Eastern Max Buffet.
I think I can sum it up best thusly:
It’s like HomeTown Buffet, but Asian, and without the suck.
If you’re ever in Roseville and looking for a good mix of Asian grub, stop on by. $8.50 all you can eat at lunch.
Bring that beat back!
Twitter, you blow goats.
(This is something I’d normally post on Twitter, but, oh, look it’s down. AGAIN. Seriously.)
Flickr + Library of Congress = Awesome
Flickr and the Library of Congress have teamed up to host part of the LoC’s image collection online.
The result? Gems like this one:
And this one:
You can view many more Library of Congress images on Flickr, and you can read more about the Commons project. The LoC also has a searchable online catalog of photos.
I’m a sucker for old photographs, so I’m in hog heaven right now.
For the record, his mother dressed him that day
First day back
Last Monday was Troy’s first day back to school after having spent two relaxing weeks at home with Kelly. His teachers said that he only took one 1/2-hour nap the whole day; he had been taking a 2-hour nap in the morning and a 2-hour nap during the afternoon while he was at home.
When we got him home, we could tell he was tired. Normally after his evening bottle, he’s still got quite a bit of steam left in him, but that night, he was plumb tuckered out. As soon as he finished his bottle, the thumb went straight into the mouth, and he was out like a light:
Get a haircut, you hippie!
Sometimes it's good to be a homeowner
… and sometimes it’s not. The category 72 hurricane that blew through Northern California today really did a number on our fence:
Damn, look at that! A waterfront property! Our property value just went through the roof!
The half-fence is quite the eyesore, though.
But wait! Said homeowner has an engineering degree. I sense ingenuity and brilliance inspiring a clever, elegant solution to the problem at hand!
Merry New Year!
Happy New Year!
2007 was a great one for us (see here). Here’s hoping for a great 2008!
