Mr. Serious
PedRoYa! (This time for real!)
Via MSNBC:
Dustin Pedroia ran away with the AL [Rookie of the Year award] Monday.
Oh, by the way, did I mention that he played the last ~2 months of the season with a broken bone in his left hand?
Red Sox second baseman played the final two months of the season with a cracked hamate bone in his left hand, the Boston Herald reported Saturday.
Pedroia said he didn’t know when the injury occurred, but that it was discovered by an MRI and bone scan on Sept. 10. Pedroia had surgery Tuesday and is wearing a soft cast. […]
Click-to-activate going the way of Clippy
If you’ve used Internet Explorer in the past ~1.5 years, you’ve no doubt been inconvenienced by the fact that you have to click on Flash animations/Java applets/etc. to get them to work. Well, no more. Great news from the Internet Explorer team today:
Back in April 2006, we made a change to how Internet Explorer handled embedded controls used on some webpages. Some sites required users to “click to activate” before they could interact with the control. Microsoft has now licensed the technologies from Eolas, removing the “click to activate” requirement in Internet Explorer. Because of this, we’re removing the “click to activate” behavior from Internet Explorer!
We've got a crawler
Troy has just barely started to crawl. For the past month or so, he has been doing this thing where he’ll get on his hands and knees, and then rock back and forth before collapsing to his belly. On Sunday, he finally crawled a little bit across the carpet to get to one of his toys.
Actually, that was the second time he crawled. The first time, he was really hungry, so, being the kind and loving parents that we are, we taunted him by putting his bottle about 3 feet in front of him. He moved like the wind. It was a 1/4-Japanese blur of fleece and drool. Carl Lewis, eat your heart out.
Tiggers
Looks like I picked a good year to become a Red Sox fan
Or, more accurately, it looks like Pedroia picked a good year to become a fixture in the Red Sox lineup.
Anyway, congrats, BoSox!
A case of the runs
Congratulations to both Kelly and Darci for completing the Lake Natoma Four Bridges Half Marathon yesterday. That’s Kelly in the black shorts above, just about to cross the finish line. She finished in just a shade over 2.5 hours. Damn impressive, if you ask me!
Happy Birthday, Dad!
The Little Mouse
When Troy woke up Monday morning, he had this little mouse underneath his left eye. Boy, was it ever awkward dropping him off at day care.
DC: What happened to his eye?
Me: Uh, he just woke up and had it under his eye. It wasn’t like that when we put him to sleep, I swear!
DC (in a patronizing tone): Oh, maybe he just fell on a toy or something.
Flyin' High
In his defense, I have it on good authority that I used to sleep in the exact same position (thanks, Mom).
So, Troy? Once again, as with the looks, You. Are. Welcome.
